The focus of our professional development work for the 2012-13 school year centers around our implementation of Professional Learning Communities(PLC's). A PLC is basically a grade level group of teachers, administrators and resource specialists who meet for at least one full day and one half day each month to look at student data and plan around student/class/grade level needs. This structure helps the teachers, administrators and staff analyze student data from various assessments, identify strengths and needs of grade level groups, classes and individual students and plan the implementation of best practices that will build on strengths an remediate areas of need. Our work in the PLC structure allows us to work cooperatively and methodically towards our common goal of raising student achievement and test scores.
